Happy Friday everyone!! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family and if you are like me, enjoyed some retail therapy too! I am so happy to be part of Butterfly Reflections Ink IG Hop celebrating Vanessa’s birthday!! And what better day to celebrate than today being Black Friday and supporting to shop small!! As many of you fellow crafters know and for anyone who is new to the crafting community, Vanessa is the owner of Butterfly Reflections Ink and is my go to shop for all my crafty needs. She is the absolute sweetest with a vast inventory of all major stamping companies as well as the fastest shipper ever!
So for todays card, I decided to use the Butterfly Wings background stamp with an added twist. I started by stamping the background image on white cardstock with MFT Extreme black hybrid ink. I then stamped again, this time on some masking paper. I started fussy cutting out the butterflies individually and placing them on top of my other stamped panel to mask them.
Once all my butterflies were masked, I ran my panel through my die cutting machine using the Waffle Flower Horizontal Stripes Die to create even strips. Once all my strips were cut and still masked, I began ink blending each strip using various Distress Ink Oxides:
- Festive Berries , Barn Door , Dried Marigold , Carved Pumpkin , Squeezed Lemonade , Mustard Seed , Lucky Clover , Cracked Pistachio , Salty Ocean , Peacock Feathers , Seedless Preserves , and Shaded Lilac.
Now that I have all my strips ink-blended the fun part comes! There is just something magical once you start peeling off the masking tape and see how beautiful the image looks once revealed. I was undecided about whether or not to color the butterflies, and with the advice of a dear crafty friend, I felt they “popped” against the rainbow background by leaving them white. I then placed black foam adhesive on each strip and adhered to my stenciled panel.
I used the coordinating sentiments and heat embossed using white embossing powder. I adhered directly on top of my butterfly panels using foam adhesive. I added a little shimmer to the wings of the butterflies using Wink of Stella brush marker in clear. It’s hard to see in photos, but it does add a nice subtle touch.
Well I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did making it! Make sure you check out Butterfly Reflections Ink shop for all your crafty needs! And since it Black Friday she has an amazing sale going on so now is the perfect time to fill up your cart and wish Vanessa a very happy birthday!!
